Full Description

The progress of a hundred crowded years of exploration, whaling, seal hunting, trading, establishing missionaries, cultivating land, mining and all the other achievements of the golden age from the late 18th century, is told through photographs, drawings, maps, paintings and beautiful photography. Now, almost a century later, after all the achievements of modern science and industry, vast areas of New Zealand look the same as they did when the early explorers trudged, climbed and swore to overcome them.
